Sol Frequency

Sol Frequency is a Baltimore-based jam band. There is no genre of music they hold sacred, nor any style they won’t take on. Their repertoire features sounds of funk, rock, jazz, and electro, and a wide array of covers. Known for complex medleys, Sol’s all about keeping the music flowing with their intense jams and contrived breakdowns. Their sound continues to expand throughout Baltimore and its surrounding areas.

Nabuma Rubberband has arrived

From Gothenberg, Sweden comes Little Dragon's 4th album, Nabuma Rubberband. Their unique sound meshes trip hop, neo soul, downtempo, and synthpop together leaving the audience in a lucid state up until the very last track. The quartet has seem to pick up steam over the past few years by appearing on tracks with artist such Big Boi, Gorillaz, Hird, Jose Gonzalez, SBTRKT, Koop, DJ Shadow, and Raphael Saadiq.

Nabuma Rubberband is a solid LP from front to back. Noteworthy songs to check out, Klapp Klapp, Paris, Cat Rider, and Let Go.
Back in October, I had the pleasure of seeing Little Dragon at the Music Hall of Williamsburg  in Brooklyn. Below is a clip from that show.

The new Bombay Bicycle Club album has arrived and it delivers within just ten tracks. This is the bands fourth studio album. The direction of this album can be foretold in the bands previous cuts. Especially, the 2011 release, 'A Different Kind of Fix. Bombay has grown up from it's indie/folk roots to a more harmonic electronic soundscape. 'So Long...,' has a rich layered sound that opens itself up to crescendos that ride out beautifully till the end. Influences of Middle Eastern music are highly notable in the song, 'Feel'  Other tracks to download to your iTunes, 'Overdone', 'Home By Now', 'Luna', and 'Come To'.

New Zealand's Best

Easily one of the most talented jam bands on the PLANET. That's a huge statement considering Fat Freddy's Drop tours mainly around the Kiwi nation. This seven piece band has been lighting it up since the early 2000's. The bands first studio album, Based on a True Story went a record 9x platinum. Now on their third album, Blackbird, Fat Freddy's Drop has shown why they are Wellington's most popular band. There's no pinpointing what genre this band fits into.  Led by frontman Joe Dukies, who sings with soulful rhythm and bluesy undertones. DJ Fitchie puts it down with hypnotic dub and techno beats. The rest of the group is on point from horns to bass, the product of a decade of playing together. Blackbird is certainly an instant classic.
